Why run for office?

There is no promise of tomorrow.

That is one life lesson Michael Zvalaren has taken to heart. In 2010 Michael was in a car accident which left him with a new perspective on life.

Why wait? Why not try that new hobby? Why wait to make the next move? These were questions that Michael found him asking himself. So, he completed grad school and got his PhD in History. He took risks to land a better job. And now, he's running for office to represent the 123rd District in Schuylkill County.

William Cronin, an environmental historian, is a large inspiration to Michael. Cronin's philosophy of "Praxis" - living one's ideals through actions, is a guiding light in Michael's life.

Change We Can Believe In

We Can Make Something Great Together.

Save Your Globe, Save Yourself

Schuylkill County has been providing the world with energy for generations, and it has taken its toll on our beautiful landscape and our people. It’s time we made a Just Transition to clean energy sources, that we clean up the mess the coal industry has left us, and that we ensure everyone a brighter, healthier, and wealthier future.

Anti-Corruption Starts With You

Integrity means everything. We need a representative in the General Assembly who is not beholden to business interests but will always do what’s best for the people of Schuylkill County. Send Michael Zvalaren to Harrisburg, and send a message that you want a government that works for you!

Public sentiment is everything.

The people of Schuylkill County deserve to have a voice in Harrisburg, and that voice should understand them and their concerns because he has lived them. Let’s send a representative who has lived the same blue-collar life as the rest of us, and who can speak on our behalf about the issues that concern us most!

Democracy Is Watching You

The 2024 election cycle may be the most pivotal one in our lifetimes. Democracy itself is on the ballot, and we need to ensure our representative will cast his vote for the people’s choice, not his party’s wishes. Michael Zvalaren pledges to uphold the will of Pennsylvanians when he’s elected as your next representative.

FAQ

Mike Is Here To Answer All Of Your Questions.

1. What are your top priorities as a congressman, and how are you working to address them?

+

My top priorities as the State Representative for the 123rd are to protect the civil rights of Pennsylvanians, from reproductive rights for women, to voting rights for everyone, to the very right for LGBTQ+ folks to simply exist. As your representative, I will work tirelessly to ensure your rights are codified and protected in our constitution.

2. How will you work across party lines to find common ground & address important issues?

+

Democracy doesn't work without compromise, and reasonable minds should work together to solve problems with commonsense solutions that benefit all. As your representative, I pledge to negotiate in good faith "across the aisle" to ensure that your needs are being met, and your future assured.

3. What steps will you take to increase transparency & accountability in government?

+

Transparency in government is paramount, and those who fail to live up to the high standards of the office need to be held accountable. I have always been an open book, and will remain so as your representative.

4. How will you engage with your constituents to gather their feedback and concerns?

+

Access to your representative is a crucial part of the democratic process, and since announcing this run, I've made it a point to be out in the community, speaking to people about the issues that affect their lives. As your representative, I will continue to be a fixture in the community, and will always be available to listen and to help.

5. Assess Tim Twardzik’s performance, and if elected, would you keep going in the same direction or change course?

+

I'm sure Tim Twardzik is doing what he thinks is best to serve the people of Schuylkill County. That said, his environmental policy goes against both science and the reality we live. He picks and chooses which rights he thinks we should get. He wants public dollars to flow to private schools to subsidize the tuition of his upper-class friends.

When I'm elected, I will fight for a Just Transition for Schuylkill County, to ensure we move from fossil fuel production and use to clean, renewable energy infrastructure where not a single job is lost. I will fight for the rights of every person, not just those with whom I agree. I will demand that every public dollar go to public schools, and that we overhaul our education funding policy to bring us into compliance, to ensure no school district is harmed by lost funding, and to relieve the property tax burden on us all.
